When my cat Charlie was badly attacked by a stray dog five months ago, I was amazed by the exceptional level of service and support from The Auckland Cat Practice.
When I entered with my mauled moggie, the staff reacted swiftly and calmly, immediately inquiring what had happened while weighing her and then injecting a dose of Morphine. As they worked to stabilize her they let me know the extent of the damage and presented my options thoroughly outlining the implications of each. Ultimately, I decided to have Charlie’s mauled leg amputated, which the vet nurses also felt was the best option. Charlie was immediately scheduled for an amputation and spent the next few days in the hospital section of the cattery.
I was invited to visit Charlie before and after the operation, in addition, I was frequently informed of Charlie’s heath by regular phone calls. All of the staff knew Charlie by name and were really affectionate toward her which was comforting for me during that time. I was also comforted by the staff’s assertion that a three-legged cat could cope quite happily and not be significantly disadvantaged physically.
We believe that Charlie received the best possible care which resulted in an exceptionally fast recovery; she was walking within two days of the amputation and had virtually fully recovered within a month. Charlie is now putting on weight again and many people do not even notice that she is missing a leg.
We were fortunate to have such a dedicated team to treat Charlie, I cannot express my gratitude enough for the tremendous effort from The Auckland Cat Practice.
