We have boarded our two elderly cats at the Auckland Cat Practice cattery on two occasions this year and cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention they received during their stay. The accommodation and facilities are first class and, most importantly, it was immediately obvious to us, and especially later when we saw our cats being held, that the staff are not only highly experienced but also real caring ‘cat people’.
Both of our cats, a mother and daughter, have particular problems which had caused us to feel unable to leave them and take a holiday for some time. The daughter has always been very timid and becomes extremely stressed when encountering unfamiliar people and environments. Her mother is blind and arthritic and, although not timid, since going blind has become inconsolably stressed whenever left at the vet hospital. They both have chronic renal failure.
On admission to the cattery everything possible was done to make them comfortable but we were nevertheless prepared to return immediately should they not have settled. However, we need not have worried - both cats settled in very quickly and, by the time we collected them, seemed very much at home! Following the success of this first experience we felt able to go away a second time with real confidence and peace of mind.
We really appreciate the kindness shown to our cats which, in turn, has enabled us now, after a long time, to be able to go away on holiday and truly relax knowing that they are in such good hands.
All aspects of their care far exceeded our expectations and so we couldn’t more highly recommend the work of Karen and her team at the Auckland Cat Practice even to the fussiest of cat owners (like us!) and especially to those with elderly cats or cats with special needs.
